I am Diane Engle. I have a Masters of Music Education from McNeese State University, Lake Charles, Louisiana and a post graduate Kodály certification, a specialized music education method of teaching. Patricia Bulber was my piano teacher at McNeese and Lamar Robertson and Ann Eisen, nationally known teachers of the Kodály music education method and authors of American Methodology, An Inclusive Approach to Music Literacy, were my teachers when pursuing my Kodály certification.
In the summer of 2015 I had the privilege of teaching Kodály music education at the University of Houston's Kodály Institute and at the Southeast Texas Kodály Certification Program.
I have directed church choirs and played piano and organ as well as directed a hand bell choir. I have taught classroom music and choir in public schools in Louisiana and Texas for 31 years and was assistant director of the Tomball ISD Children's Choir.
I have taught all grade levels in school and worked with adults in church music. I enjoy teaching all ages in piano, from young children to older adults!
My Kodály studies transformed my teaching style approach in the music classroom. The Kodály method uses folk songs and game songs to teach sophisticated music elements. I use this same approach in my piano studio while teaching piano lessons in small groups.
